Sometimes it's quite hard to find something to keep your antsy-ness occupied when your brain & body are so tired they just can't concentrate.
My solution is KITTENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is Foster Dad John's Current Litter - see below for links
Not in my house, that would be too much effort and I suspect Ivorcat would be unimpressed. On a webcam. Watching them grow up.
There's several kitten fosterers in the USA who have a 24hr webcam trained on their foster kittens. Sometimes it's difficult, when a kitten dies or when they're unwell and grubbsy, but mostly it's joyous. Sometimes it's very loud so I mute it, and as they get older, it gets a bit frentic for a while, but I get just as much enjoyment from watching them sleep as play.
The added bonus is that the webcams can be Live or you can go backwards or forwards to more or less lively bits depending on what you feel up to.
Even better - if you have the bandwidth, it's free. And you don't have to sign up to anything unless you want to join in chat (more on that later).
So, which webcams and why?
Top of the list has to be Foster Dad John - as far as I can tell he's The Godfather of all kittencams. He's hugely respected in the kitten watching community and by other fosterers. Currently he has a litter called the Hitchhikers - a mother and her gorgeous litter - find them HERE
He also has a facebook page here
My next favourite is Sarah's Kitten Cuddle Room. Her current kittens have no mother and are still at the very grubby stage (so not for watching over dinner). She worked wonders with the last guys - can't quite believe they've grown into the amazing cats they have! Anyway, her litter is called The Little Darlings and can be found HERE
She also has a facebook page here
The last ones she had were Fleur and the Sweethearts. Fleur was an adult she previous fostered who came back, then there were 4 kittens, and Rob was particularly sad looking at the beginning - he's awesome now! pictures here
This is how Rob developed from a very sorry little boy to his current awesomeness!
Both those litters are getting big & quite active, so my third choice (and my final favourite anyway) is Christine's Kitten Room She currently has a mother with litter who are still so small they're caged up. Good for watching on a day when I don't want much movement! They're called Kittens of the Shire this time and can be found HERE
Her facebook page is here
Oh, one last thing, it's easy to swop browser tabs and wonder where those funny noises are coming from. It's kittens!
PS I think there are other cams for puppies n stuff - go to the Livesteam main page and click on animals to find some. You can find more Cams by going into the Following section in any of the above Kittencams.
